More on magical resistance

This is a follow-up to my previous article on the topic of magical resistance - what stands in the way of successful spells. I will be more specific in terms of details and explanations and for this reason I will address spells and rituals that employ planetary forces because many out there work exclusively with them (for some reason).

I have detailed the planetary dignities in this article and they should be considered by anyone who's doing planetary magick and wants to improve their results. By looking at those details we can see each of the seven classical planets becomes more or less stronger whenever it transits through certain zodiac sectors. Their strengths vary depending on each sector's type. It is a no brainer one would want to work with a planet when it's transiting through a sector in which it is very strong. But then...

Transiting speeds happen! Yea, we know the Moon transits through the entire zodiac in roughly 28 days, meaning it stays for around two and a half days in each sign. Mercury stays for about three weeks in each sign, Venus for just under a month, while the Sun for 30 days give or take. But then things start to become more complicated because even though Mars spends between one and a half and two months in a sign, Jupiter spends more than one year and Saturn more than two. So technically it would be easier for us to succeed in spells that employ the energies of the faster moving planets, and we should succeed more often, because we can work with them while they're stronger quite a few times throughout the year. But then...

The Sun happens! In Asteria we quoted Al-Biruni who said the Sun is, and I'm paraphrasing right now because I don't want to look up the exact quote, "bad when near, good at a distance". This is because regardless of its location in the zodiac, the Sun will weaken those planets that are too close to it and I've talked about it a bit here. I've also talked about cazimi here, but cazimi lasts for around ten hours (?! I'll have to recheck that) at most in the case of Mercury compared to around a month or more a planet is affected by being under sunbeams or worse, through combustion - except the Moon which is affected for far less time. So even when a planet like Mercury or Venus is located in a position of strength, there's a rather high probability it would be affected by the Sun and although they would overpower the Sun, they would not operate at full strength as in the case they were not be afflicted by the Sun. That strength deficit can cause a success to become partial and a partial success to become a failure. Even spells that employ the forces of Mars, Jupiter or Saturn can suffer from this, especially since...

Transits happen! You know, the merry-go-round that takes place since the formation of the solar system and which has been projected onto the zodiac chart from an earthly perspective. Because of transits and different transit speeds it takes a whooooooole lot of time for the planets to return to their exact position they were in at any given moment. I don't think I'm exaggerating when I'm saying millions of years. It could be more and I actually looked that up out of curiosity and I came across astronomic numbers. Regardless of the number of years, it can often happen that a planet is located in a place that offers it great strength and at the same time it is involved in a hard aspect with another strong planet, which may be even stronger. For example, the Sun is strongest in Leo, but currently Saturn is in Aquarius and considering planetary dignities it overpowered a Leo Sun for quite a while. Even so, it is still possible to find times when your planet of choice is strong and unaffected, but then...

Houses happen! I mean astrological houses, but not in a sense of the areas of life they cover. What I mean is the twelve houses are grouped into four groups of three beginning from the four principal angles (in many house systems). Each of the first houses from these groups is called angular, each of the second is called succedent and each of the third is called cadent. Horary astrology is telling us the energies of the planets located in angular houses are very strong in their materialization, those of planets in succedent houses need some effort to materialize, while those in cadent houses are likely to fail to materialize or will do so in ways that are out of reach for people. This means that spells involving planets are best to be performed when the planet of choice is located in an angular house or better still, on one of the four principal angles; their strength is Ascendant, Midheaven, Descendant, Imum Coeli, in this order. So you could work your way towards finding a time your planet of choice is strong, unaffected and on an angle, but then...

Life happens! As in... mundane life. As in... doing something for some reason, whether going to school or work or both, going out on a date because hormones or feelings or both, having do travel somewhere for business or pleasure or both, having to deal with certain unexpected emergencies of whatever reason and magnitude, etc. And you cannot do that spell at that time, dammit, because the whole world doesn't revolve around you and it keeps doing its thing. Otherwise, you could call it quits and stop going to school or work or better still, move to some secluded location and woowoo all you want and at the best possible times you can find.

Edit: and throughout, retrogrades happen, alongside periods prior to and post retrogrades in which the planets "move" slower and thus their energies are weaker ;) and also Void of Course :D

Even so, such times can be far apart and we have seen why. No wonder some Picatrix talisman elections would require decades, if not longer, if you were to fulfill each of the many criteria they detail. So all we can do is to give it our best shot and plan our workings at the best possible times we can find and use, while at the same time channel as much planetary force into the working through specific techniques (that are best to be practiced at a regular basis). And then! Whenever you come across a time that's very auspicious and you have the ability to perform a working, I recommend you don't waste that planetary energy by sending the spirits out to do whatever because it will eventually die out at some point. Instead, store it into a talisman that will operate for as long as you want.

That's my two cents on the topic and, without wanting to come across as arrogant even if I don't care, I think I'm quite right in what I'm saying. At least to some extent. Otherwise, everyone waving their wands around for a few weeks would become millionaires in no time. This is not the case.

And Mr. Farrell has just informed me Magic Words is now on Amazon. But still not on the site. I also talk about resistance in there on a broader spectrum, without going into details like I do in this article. Because that book is aimed at helping noobs and I wrote it from the perspective of one who remembers his days as a noob who wanted to learn both magical systems and magical laws, so to speak. It seems to me people are way too busy talking about systems (instead of actually teaching them to those who want to learn, who in turn end up being chastised by the former for some reason), but overlook the so called laws (perhaps because they're not aware of them or if they are, they could very well overlook them, or not know them in detail). I should refer to them more as rules than laws though... And no, I'm not referring to dogmas people hold on to when they're chastising others. But I'm digressing.

Hate on, dum-dums!

  1. Could you give me a advice ?
I don t really have time for rites now and even when I do I m interrupted many times but anyway I want to ask following:
Tommorow is Sunday and can I call Jupiter entities tommorow for job stuff because Jupiter is in Pisces now regardless of Sun in Aquarius ?

Do you think that in future resistances will be more weaker or that magical voltage will be stronger ?

  2. You can certainly call on Jupiter spirits tomorrow although I would stop calling on them afterwards for about three weeks because Jupiter will be combust and thus weakened - except at this date and time https://scaraoschisbooksofsorcery.blogspot.com/2021/11/jupiter-talisman-bonus.html

I think resistance will be the same in the future because it's part of... let's say "cosmic laws" and whether the magical voltage will become stronger or not, it is really up to each person in part. They can work on improving their skills, performing rituals at more auspicious times, formulating better commands, and so on. Or not. Up to them.

  3. Thanks,

So i guess i could use Jupiter in Pisces Talisman(Lion King).
I mean i guess the Jupiterian Entities will have no problem charging it because it s their domain.

    Thanks.

  4. Sure, go ahead. Or you can even ask them to do whatever you want them to do without making a talisman.

  5. No matter. Do either talisman or send spirits to oerfork a taskz but keep in mind the talisman will work indefinitely, or at least until you choos to destroy it (in which case it's best to call on the spirits and ask them to remove the charge).
