Stealing without air quotes

"Steal from the best" is one of Scott's sayings. It refers to borrowing techniques and tricks of the trade from experienced occultists to see whether they improve personal work and to keep using them if they do. It doesn't refer to taking other people's material and making it your own, especially in official ways!

It has come to my attention the head of some wack ass GD wannabe order has stolen material originally published by one Samuel Scarborough. People who read my books might be familiar with this name since I've quoted his work more than once and at least two or three of my books have his work mentioned in the bibliography. The last book I've mentioned his work in was Cielos, where I also talk about the likes of the aforementioned scum characters who appropriate others' material and stamp their name on it. In that book I warn people to stay clear of such characters while providing more than enough clues to recognize them.

To the point, the stolen material is the following Invocation of Malkuth and it was published back in 2008 in a magazine that has ceased to exist for some ten years.  I for one asked for permission to publish it even if it had already been made public freely by the author.

There's a high probability very few people outside established magical orders have come across Mr. Scarborough's name. The reason for this is that, from my observations, he's not the kind of person to show off his affiliations, titles and so on for possible fans online, but rather keeps a low profile and instead guides people towards whatever genuine material they ask for while at the same time commenting on whether those people would need that material or not depending on their current circumstances within or without a genuine magical order. If you've read Cielos, he's one of the people who keeps repeating the same information time and again as an answer to the same question, never once telling the querent to make use of the group's search function (like yours truly does elsewhere).

Without being familiar with his order or grade, he did strike me as a person who knows stuff ever since I came across his article on the Tree of Life during the first few months of my practice. You can observe the article is structured and written from a practical perspective, allowing easy understanding to anyone who wants to learn about the Tree and its uses (even us stupids). You can also observe the same style of writing in the screenshots of the stolen material and a closer observation would facilitate the conclusion it's the same author, even without his name being mentioned at the end.

But then some clown figure steps in and decides to take that material for his own, to show off in front of his paying customers, AHEM! order members he's some kind of big-shot magicianist leader whatever. Clearly, an order leader would know how to compile a simple yet effective Malkuth invocation, right? Even if they couldn't, likely because they're the result of their mother having rubbed off on some cum stain on the bathroom door of a lousy hobo club, they could read over Mr. Scarborough's material and twist it in ways that would make it less recognizable, right? Apparently not...

The result is a two bit order running on material stolen from genuine Golden Dawn people, who's leader seeks only to fill his or her pockets with the members' money. I suspect they have the same MO as Impotentor who asked me to send him an email from my private address to know who was behind the fb page that was making fun of him, only to spam me with his ads afterwards  - dumb way to get vengeance. Anyway, Impotentor is the kind of leader who doesn't care his order's members have trouble with the material he had given them, but insists they move on to get initiated into the following grade (likely for a certain fee that likely increases with grade).

While I'm not part of any order, I can come up with a simple Intiation into Malkuth that makes use of nothing more than the Lesser Ritual of the Pentagram and a form of the Middle Pillar, the two being promoted by "Harry Potter Regardie" as Neophyte material. While you may make use of the more elaborate ceremonial forms presented in Mr. Scarborough's article, meaning you can asperge and fumigate while saying all those things and making all those gestures, I propose a far simpler working tailored for those with no room and very little conditions due to various reasons.

You would need a white altar lamp, a black candle (or white tea light if you can't find a black candle), a black circle or triangle with the name Adonai Ha-Aretz and/or Adonai Melekh written in white, as in the above article. As I understand it, in the Golden Dawn the godname for Malkuth is both Adonai Ha-Aretz and Adonai Melekh, whereas in Thelema it is just Adonai Melekh while Adonai Ha-Aretz is the godname for the Earth element - use them according to your preferences.

1. Stand West of the altar, facing East and light your altar candle.

2. Perform the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram.

3. Perform the Lesser Invoking Ritual of the Pentagram.

4. Perform the Godhead Assumption for Malkuth by making use of the symbolism and colors in X here.

5. Recite the litany to Earth I have linked in this article.

6. Light the black candle and say the following (while vibrating the names):

"In the holy name Adonai Ha-Aretz / Adonai Melekh I call upon thee Sandalphon, great archangel of the sphere of manifestation! Come forth in all your majesty and together with you bring the holy Ashim, for I seek your guidance towards the understanding of the mysteries of your sphere."

7. Meditate on the black circle or triangle with the name(s) written on while. You could meditate on each letter in turn while vibrating the divine name either out loud or in your mind as a mantra. After a time you can close your eyes and "see" the object of your meditation in its astral form in flashing colors (for as long as it appears to you in your minds eye) and continue the meditation that way. Don't get discouraged in the mental image starts fading away after some time or rather quickly, although it should remain strong (to a degree) for longer or even until you finish your meditation.

8. Once you're done thank the powers you've called upon in #6 and offer them the black candle, then ask them to depart in your own (polite) words.

9. Write down everything you have experienced regardless of its triviality.

10. Perform the Qabalistic Cross and knock once on the altar.

Done.

I should start my own order, haha!
