More on the twelfth house

I talked about the twelfth house in detail in the specific article from Asteria 2. Now I want to offer a complex example of twelfth house themes, especially self sabotage and curses. As you will find out if you explore my example in depth via the sources I offer, these themes converge into sorrow, despair and anguish for those who are subjected to them.

The example I want to offer consists in J.R.R. Tolkien's The Children of Húrin, a lengthy tale of the First Age, thousands of years before the Fellowship of the Ring began its journey towards Mount Doom. The tale itself has its own chapter in The Silmarillion although it's but a shorter version of the one found in the book bearing its name.

Before you read the book I want to draw your attention to this channel that does a great job at explaining Tolkien's universe in detail. The onwer just posted the next to last hour long of the thirteen videos in which he retells and explains in detail this particular story. His previous videos cover stories that happened previously in the timeline so you'd know how it all came to be at the beginning of this one.

In short, Húrin became the prisoner of the Dark Lord Morgoth and defied him by refusing to tell him the location of the hidden Elven realm of Gondolin. In turn, Morgoth cursed Húrin and his entire family and granted him powers to see and hear far and wide in order to witness how that curse will unfold. From then on Húrin' wife and children were terribly afflicted by that curse, but it was Túrin, his son, who bore then brunt of that curse.

By reading the book and/or watching those videos you'll see how Túrin is affected both micro and macrocosmically by the curse. His personality strengths start turning against him and his weakness become even more apparent. Moreover, the environment surrounding him leads him towards more and more perilous paths and dire situations. Everywhere he goes people end up hurting even if things seemed well at first.

After you've gone through studying this example, imagine how hard placements in a natal twelfth house could manifest similar real life situations for the native or how curses can make the target's life miserable.
