"The Astrology of the Black Moon: A Guide to Healing the Shadow Side" by Laura Walker is a very good source for those willing to understand this mysterious force in greater detail. Even though the book is less than a hundred pages, the author has done an outstanding job at describing Black Moon's nature and influences. While I would've loved for this force to be dealt with in regards to relationships as well within the book, the description of its influences in a natal chart are extremely valuable.
I like this book so much I even used it as source material for Asteria and it also became source material for Asteria 2.
Not only does Walker present the nature of the force and its influences, but also means of dealing with it to one's advantage in order to heal from its nefarious manifestations in both the micro and macrocosm. Having studied the Black Moon in detail myself as well as working with it magically, I came to realize Walker has understood it deeper than anyone I've come across so far and I cannot be too grateful to her for having written this book. Moreover, although the nature of her writing and expressing her views can come across as New Agey, the astrological interpretations she presents are anything but.
To realize the degree to which the author details on the Black Moon, here is the table of contents:
My only critique of the book itself is the fact Walker doesn't consider squares when discussing transits of the Black Moon to natal planets as well as planets to the natal Black Moon. Over time I came to realize these aspects can cause as much turmoil for the native as the conjunctions and oppositions Walker discusses. But even so, this is a minor critique.
All in all, I think this book is a must for everyone wanting to expand their astrological knowledge in areas many overlook, probably because they stick to classical sources or they dismiss them altogether as being the astrological equivalent of darke fluff.
