Early on my magical path I was told by Scott a spirit's sigil is like its personal phone number. Just like a human can have more than one phone number, each spirit can have more than a single sigil, whether they're found in old grimoires or they're generated from a kamea, etc.
But then why wouldn't a spirit be conjured using more than one conjuration formula? I mean there isn't a single, unique recitation of words that would have the spirit show up. There can be more than one verbal construction, some longer and other shorter that can be used for this purpose.
Naturally, such constructions need to contain specific words and phrasing as to have a greater impact on the spiritual world and determine the spirits to show up. If a spirit's sigil is akin to ita phone number, then the conjuration formula would be like diling that number although this is not a good comparison.
A better comparison would be that a conjuration formula is like a camera lense. The better the lense, the clearer the image of the picture it produces. Similarly, the better a conjuration is constructed, the greater its impact on the spiritual world. Conjuration formulae from both old grimoires and some modern sources are constructed well enough to have the spirits show up, but one should not expect a "physical", ghost-like manifestation especially since their own psychic sense do not allow them to "see" spiritual presences. The same applies for "hearing" spirits' voices or sensing them.
From experience, a conjuration doesn't need to be lengthy for the spirit to show up. It only needs to contain certain important elements that would identify the spirit and determine it to come. Those elements would act as features that improve the quality of the camera lense I mentioned above. In order to achieve that, one must employ:
1. Names of power, meaning godnames and especially the godname of the divine aspect ruling over the particular force the conjured spirit belongs to.
2. Name and title(s) of conjured spirit and in some cases names of hierarchical superior spirits.
3. Name of spiritual plane that spirit belongs to, such as planetary or zodiacal heavens.
4. The names are best to be vibrated for reasons discussed and explained in this article.
Here's an example of a conjuration of Michael as a solar angel from the old grimoire, The Heptameron:
"I conjure and confirm upon you, ye strong and holy angels of God, in the name Adonai, Eye, Eye, Eya, which is he who was, and is, and is to come, Eye, Abray; and in the name Saday, Cados, Cados, sitting on high upon the cherubim; and by the great name of God himself, strong and powerful, who is exalted above all the heavens; Eye, Saraye, who created the world, the heavens, the earth, the sea, and all that in them is, in the first day, and sealed them with his holy name Phaa; and by the name of the angels who rule in the fourth heaven, and serve before the most mighty Salamia, an angel great and honourable; and by the name of his star, which is Sol, and by his sign, and by the immense name of the living God, and by all the names aforesaid, I conjure thee, Michael, O great angel! who art chief ruler of this day; and by the name Adonai, the God of Israel, I conjure thee, O Michael! that thou labour for me, and fulfil all my petitions according to my will and desire in my cause and business."
And here's a modern conjuration based on Qabalistic correspondences from Scott's blog:
"MICHAEL, MICHAEL, MICHAEL, MICHAEL, MICHAEL, MICHAEL. Come unto me, great and mighty angel of SHEMESH, by the name of the great god ALH (...)"
You can notice the similarities between them in regards to what I wrote above. The names written in bold letters in the first conjuration and those written in caps in the second are to be vibrated.
During a conjuration, if one starts to feel really tired and sleepy despite going in fresh, is this alone a sign of a successful conjuration? I can't see any other reason why lethargy might take over during the recitation.
ReplyDeleteI'd take it this happens as a result of the person's consciousness getting more in tune and connected with the spiritual realm. So it *may* be a sign the spirit will show up, but it's not a guarantee imo.
