Black Moon transiting houses

The Astrology of the Black Moon by Laura Walker does a great job explaining the energies of this non-physical object from different perspectives. I found it lacking in certain respects and this article seeks to explain in more detail one such perspective. More exactly, I will address Black Moon (BML) transits through natal houses.

Besides aspects to natal planets and points, transits should also be observed in their relation to natal houses. Given the houses cover areas of life, it makes it easier to discern which sectors might be affected by transits, how, and to what degree. This applies to BML transits, especially since it usually goes about unnoticed, whether because some solely consider traditional astrology, or because those who dabble in modern astrology are more concerned with other forces.

To begin with, we must consider all transits as being macrocosmic influences. That is to say, they represent the totality of forces that act upon us in various ways. Their influences have acted upon people long before we were born and will continue to do so long after we pass into the beyond. This takes place irrespective of whether some pretentious dork, in his apparent infinite wisdom, doesn't think the energies of the heavens affect life down here.

That being said, transiting BML is a macrocosmic force. Based on a psychological interpretation of its influences, it represents something people usually abscond from. We've detailed it in Asteria as being areas of life that, although completely out in the open and visible, people pretend not to exist. They do so out of the fear that their mere recognition would damage their image in the eyes of others, or out of shame.

For example, let us imagine a family walking through a park in a sunny hot day suddenly encountering an attractive woman who also appears do be underdressed. The husband would instantly start discussing the weather, looking up at the sky until such time they pass by that woman. He would try to act natural and be as inconspicuous as possible in starting the conversation. The son would suddenly act as natural as the father when looking up the weather forecast on his phone and joining his father in discussing the subject.

The man is acting this way out of fear of his wife lashing out at him, either instantly or later on, the former case being even more severe for him. The son is doing so out of shame his mother and sister would notice, as well as out of fear they may label him as a degenerate perv (because the encounter has stirred his imagination). Whichever the case, this example is but generic, although similar patterns occur all the time, each having their own particularities depending on circumstances. Some cases are benign and amusing, while more extreme ones can be very disturbing.

We thus see that BML has a shunning effect on people. In transit, BML uses that shunning effect to influence areas of life covered by the natal house. More precisely, other people and society at large seem to be shunning the native in regards to those particular life sectors. The native too can end up shunning one or more areas covered by that house during the transit, thus creating more unpleasant outcomes for themselves.

It's not that people would stay away from the native out of malice, although it may be the case with some, but that other events or inner states of consciousness would distract them, or require them to direct their attention elsewhere. The native is thus left behind, any needs or interests of theirs being overlooked indefinitely or forgotten altogether. Even if those people eventually remember or their attention is being drawn back to the native, it is often too late.

In many such cases it is not fear or shame that determines others to act out in this manner. The simple fact those macrocosmic energies act on the person's sphere of sensation in such a way makes them become shunned by those people. Or, in some cases it may determine them to undermine themselves. But let's see how it can play out in life.

Let's say someone applies for a job. The boss gets hold of their resume and is impressed, but a sudden crisis determines them to shift their attention elsewhere for some time. Because of this, they misplace the resume, forget all about it, delete it, or do any other thing that would result in them not calling the candidate for the interview. Instead, other people are called and one of them is eventually hired.

It may happen that the person's resume doesn't even reach the boss. The secretary may fumble it and delay its reaching the boss until there's no more need for it. Or, the secretary may know the candidate and does not want them to become employed at that company out of fear the future employee would reveal certain personal details the secretary wants to keep secret.

Another scenario would be the person is called for the interview, leaves a good impression, but when it comes to deciding the boss forgets part of that impression and hires someone else. Or, for whatever personal reason, the candidate doesn't do that good an impression. Or, the person is calling for the interview but, due to accumulated frustration from failing to get hired for a considerable time, turns down the invitation or rejects the call.

These are but a few examples to consider, since there are very many possibilities regarding how things can unfold. The most important thing to consider is that, whichever way these influences may play out, such as those of hard transits and natal placements in general, are hard to be mediated by magical operations set into motion from the opposite direction. I'm saying this despite what others say in relation to what their magical services can do.

As an example in this context, if you're experiencing a hard transit that is causing you unemployment and you cast a spell to get hired, it is very hard for such a spell to succeed throughout the entire duration of the transit. The same applies to casting spells to combat the effects generated by BML transits. Any of these are merely spells that address the effects and not the cause itself.
