Helios rite

The following rite is aimed for bringing out the truth in a situation, but it can also be for clarity or enlightenment. Dispelling darkness or ignorance can also be the intents behind it and by darkness one can understand impurity and foul spirits as well.

Ritual requirements should be easily attained. Besides the altar lamp, a golden (or yellow) candle should be enough. The ever so pagan Mr. Farrell would tell you to write "Helios", your name (or that of the target) and intent on the candle and if I were to go witchy, I'd tell you to etch them vertically from top to bottom, then anoint the candle from top to bottom with sunflower oil. Anyway, some frankincense would also be nice. A photo of the god would make a good addition (in case a statue is unavailable). A golden or yellow altar cloth would be the icing on the cake for this simple arrangement.
If you're casting on another, have their link next to or underneath the colored candle.

Overlooking astro elections, the ritual can done on a Sunday with Sun rising or culminating, otherwise in a solar hour at your leisure. Moon is best to be waxing or waning depending on intent.

Those who read through my blog every so often would find the ritual structure familiar.

1. Perform the Operant Field.

4. Perform Helios godhead assumption - visualize the light as golden, vibrate "Helios" and at the end visualize on top of your head something akin to the sun on the shield in the first picture in this article.

5. Recite the following invocation provided by the pagan guru himself:

"O Helios, ever-burning, all-seeing God of the Sun,
Thy golden chariot rides high, from dawn till day is done.
Thy eye, unblinking, pierces through the veil of night's deceit,
Bring forth the truth with thy pure light, where shadows and lies meet.

Dispel the mists of ignorance, the darkness that blinds the heart,
Illuminate the hidden paths, where falsehoods do depart.
O radiant one, whose fiery steeds leap across the sky,
Banish impurity and foul spirits that beneath thy gaze do lie.

Let thy beams, like cleansing fire, purify the soul,
And in the clarity of thy light, make broken spirits whole.
Helios, with thy scorching touch, reveal what's veiled in night,
And in the brilliance of thy truth, grant us clear sight.

O Helios, whose chariot of fire ascends the sky's vast dome,
Hear this humble plea, O God, from your celestial home.
Shed your light upon us, bright and ever-blazing sun,
Reveal the truth that's shrouded, let not deceit be spun.

Your rays, which touch the earth and sea, and all that lies between,
Illuminate the darkest corners where the truth has not been seen.
Like your sister Eos, bring the dawn of clear insight,
Disperse the fog of falsehoods with your overpowering light.

Be present now, O Helios, in your resplendent might,
Guide us through the mists of doubt, and grant us second sight.
For in your golden glow, no shadows can persist,
And in the warmth of your truth, clarity shall exist.

Come forth as I call you by the names you delight to hear:
KEPRE ĒLÉKTŌR ELEUTHÉRIOS PANÓPTĒS SOTER PHOÎBOS LVX!"

6. Ask of Helios what it is you want and offer him the colored candle (and incense) in return. Mr. Guru would prolly tell you to circle the altar clockwise (or counterclockwise in case you want to get rid of stuff) for such and such a time while chanting your intent in order to harness even more juju into the rite. Do what thou wilt.

7. Ask Helios to depart in your own words.

8. Close the working in your usual fashion.

  1. Can we work with Solar spirits like Helios, Michael for the same purpose as Nitika? I’m sure you’re aware of Nitika and his role given his popularity with New Avatar Power and Gallery of Magick. He’s a non-astrological spirit - probably sublunar - that is used for the purposes of ‘precious stones’ i.e quick sums of cash and workings manifest quite quick too, like an elemental. Nobody knows what astrological associations these genii of the 12 hours are associated with. Sublunar but not limited by astrology like every other spirit.

The method is not of conjuration - no talisman, nor petition. It’s a strange thing the author invented, where you recite an incantation consisting of all the godnames used in the Middle Pillar and tell Nitika to bring you a specific sum of money, for 11 days straight. I would like to try that, and other things known of the Sun with Solar spirits who unfortunately are limited by the Sun’s position in astrology but using the ritual for Nitika instead.

  2. Old grimoires in general associate the Sun with wealth an precious stones, among other things such as good relations with kings etc. It would be interesting to see wherever Helios can help in that area, not that he couldn't, but that he as a deity covered other things.

  3. Grimoires like the Picatrix describe a plethora of associations of stones, metals, incense and functions for each planet, sign, fixed star etc.. One such function includes political power, wealth, health and cursing for the Sun. It speaks of each planet’s influence in those departments. I’m positive that any solar spirit can help with that, though I wish to work with Michael and the solar hierarchy for all my solar needs instead of Helios. Picatrix practitioners have found that the Sun is a far better planet for financial workings than Jupiter.

In the NAP book, the highest spirits invoked this way are some Shem angels, Olympic spirit Ophiel, and sublunar spirits like Nitika. The GOM authors took this approach but limited it only to Nitika for a ritual of 11 days. I was able to successfully apply it with Ophiel for a Mercurial task using my own version which proves the method can work on celestials as well but was always afraid of approaching solar spirits (big mistake).

Helios can definitely help with all of these areas as PGM calls him for healing but the real test is whether this Nitika approach works for Solar spirits at all. The book in question is titled ‘Magickal Cashbook’ and targets beginners yet I see people continue to use it well into their occult journey.

The book remains so popular that another book on Nitika and his entire hierarchy was released recently titled ‘Secret Angel Magick’. Nitika has become more popular than Sachiel. People would rather ask a spirit that’s unaffected by retrogrades, detriments, falls, eclipses, moon phases etc.
