Intent

First of all, to those who say intent has nothing to do with magix:
After a short dialogue with Scott in the comments of one of his articles it came to me there's many people out there who need to know this. I'm not referring to Scott, of course, but to someone who commented onthat article. Therefore, this post is solely informative and is not meant as criticism.

In Cielos I briefly wrote about the statement of intent, the command one is to give the conjured spirit(s). Here's a screenshot of that page:
The highlighted part refers to a multiple charge given to the spirits, one that covers several things that have little to nothing in common between them. While it's understandable people want to ask for quite a few things covered by a planet's powers based on their needs, using a multiple charge will split that magical force in several different vectors, thus weakening each vector. Some might say spirits are powerful and can multitask with ease and I don't doubt that, but think of the fact they often have to do some really heavy lifting in order to manifest even one desire depending on the probabilities of you achieving that given the existing status-quo. Making them focus in more than one direction during the same ritual will likely have them operate less optimal and the results might not be even close to those desired.

Therefore, a different operation is to be preferred in cases where you need more than one thing covered by a planet. This also applies to talismans regardless of whether they're from an old grimoire or one you've made yourself (or if you're praying while giving offerings). It would be foolish to make this talisman and charge it for everything Agrippa described to be its powers, for example. Additionally, in the case of talismans the same thing applies if you're charging, ahem, consecrating (pffft) more than one talisman during the same ritual. Don't have the spirits consecrate each talisman for a different purpose and instead charge them all for the same purpose or do several rituals and charge each talisman separately.

I discussed the statement of intent in much more detail in Words.
